Herbs

Herbs & Herbal Formulas

I want you to be comfortable with your herbal treatment.

Remember herbs take a while to be effective. It does take from one to three months before you start experiencing positive changes and this depends on your age, how many health problems you have, and the severity of your health problem(s).

Instead of setting a predetermined price for your herbal needs, we’ll first determine what type or delivery system you feel you’ll be most comfortable and compliant with. Compliant means that you will take it as prescribed.

Please review this information because I will be asking you about your preference for your herbal treatment. There are several options for herbal formulas:

teapills

teapill bottles

Tea pills

Tea pills look like little black B B’s. Teapills are sugar coated to make them very easy to swallow. You can see a close up picture of the tiny teapills to the left.

You wind up taking a large number of the teapills. A typical dosage could be 12 teapills twice daily.

This option usually costs the least of all of the herbal formulas available.

tablets

Tablets

Tablets  may have slight variations in size, about ½ the size of the end of your little finger. Tablets are ground up herbs pressed into this shape.

Pros – Most tablets are easy to swallow. You take fewer in number than the tea pills. They may cost a little bit or a lot more than the tea pills depending on the formula.

Drawbacks are you may smell and taste the herbs but it’s not usually bad.

extracts

Granulated Extracts

Granulated extracts  are similar to freeze dried coffee. You reconstitute it with water and drink it.

Pros – Extracts absorb quickly and seem to generate the quickest results. Two or more formulas can often be combined into one. If time is of the essence with your health problem, then I would recommend this delivery system.

Drawbacks could be that it may not taste good and extracts tend to be the more expensive of the herbal formula options.

You may want to take the extracts initially and switch to another delivery system later. If you are really turned off by bad or unusual tastes then pick a different delivery system.

What I’ve personally done in the past is have water or a strong tasting liquid ready such as grape juice to use as a chaser.

soft gels

Soft Gel Caps

New on the market are herbal formulas in gel caps – if you’ve taken Vitamin E or Fish Oil you’re already familiar with this form.

Gel caps tend to be very easy to swallow. You don’t have to take as many as tea pills. Since these are new, they cost more than tea pills or tablets.

Not all herbal formulas are available in this format yet.

Where do the herbal formulas come from?

I usually order from the supplier and have them shipped directly to you. I use several different suppliers depending on the types of herbs needed and location.

All my suppliers follow the U.S. FDA’s requirements for production and packaging of herbs and herbal formulas.
